Flu Vaccine for 50-64 year olds

We have just seen in the media this morning that flu vaccinations have been extended to all 50-64 year olds by the Department of Health. We found out by seeing it on the news the same time as you. We have not yet received any details about how to order the additional vaccine but have been advised that this won't be until after 1st Dec. As soon as we have more information we will contact all eligible patients. Please do not phone us in the meantime as we cannot give you any further information. If you are over 65 years, or under 65 in an at risk group – you will have already received an invitation from us for a flu vaccination, if you have not had it yet we do still have appointments for you. As you will be aware COVID19  is creating a challenge for us all, and specifically the NHS. The last few weeks have been incredibly difficult with a huge increase in demand initially. 

As we continue to adapt to the ever changing situation our clinicians are now beginning to see a number of patients face to face - if you attend the surgery please ensure that you are wearing a face covering

We continue to offer video or telephone consultations to reduce the risk of further spread of the virus.

Please don’t worry about contacting us regarding any medical concerns you have that are not COVID related,  our team of clinicians are here and available to consult with you in the ways mentioned above.

Guidance around Face Coverings

The law states that you MUST wear a face covering on public transport and in shops & supermarkets (from 24th July)

There are a few exceptions which include;

  •     young children under the age of 11
  •     not being able to put on, wear or remove a face covering because of a physical  or mental illness or impairment, or disability
  •     if putting on, wearing or removing a face covering will cause you severe distress
  •     if you are travelling with or providing assistance to someone who relies on lip reading to communicate
  •     to eat or drink, but only if you need to
  •     to take medication
  •     if a police officer or other official requests you remove your face covering

GPs will NOT be providing exemption notes. These are not a legal requirement.

A Message from our Wellbeing & Self Care Coordinator

I know that the past few months have been really difficult, and my role at the practice is to provide support around issues which matter the most to you, and those affecting your wellbeing which are non-medical.

This may range from low mood, anxiety and worry about lockdown ending, to financial or housing issues.

 I am offering phone appointments at the moment, and I am here to talk through these difficulties or to help you find the necessary services to enable you to move forward.

Stay at home for 7 days if you have any of these symptoms

  • a high temperature OR

  • a new, continuous cough OR

  • loss of/change in smell or taste

If you live with other people who have symptoms, you should stay at home for 14 days from the day the first person got symptoms

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital.

You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.

Established in 1915, we are a busy Medical Practice serving more than 9000 patients. We are based at two sites: Offerton Health Center and Hillgate Surgery.

As our doctors work at both sites; we ask all patients, where possible, to attend available appointments at both sites (especially if you wish to see a particular clinician). Manor Medical Practice has both male and female doctors, allowing patients the choice of which doctor they would like to see.  

We are linked to organ donor registration and our nurses have Diplomas in Asthma and Diabetes. We provide minor surgery - joint injections and cryotherapy; family planning advice and Smoking Cessation appointments.

Our buildings are suitable for disabled access and have disabled toilet facilities. There is a large car park at Offerton Health Centre and free 1 hour on-street parking at Hillgate Surgery.

We offer a wide range of appointment times with some appointments available from 7.00am and after 6.30pm.

7 Day Primary Care Access

All patients registered with a GP Practice in Stockport can now book a routine appointment, up to 2 weeks in advance, in the evenings and Saturday & Sunday's.

You may not be able to see your own GP but you will be seen by a suitably qualified health professional such as another GP, Healthcare Assistant (HCA) or Practice Nurse.

New A&E GP Records Access

From November 2017, clinicians in A&E departments will start to use a system that will allow them to have access to your full GP records. Unless you opt completely, each time you attend A+E for emergency treatment, you will be ask for your permission for the clinicians to view your medical records.
